Things to avoid before providing a breath sample

You should avoid consuming any alcohol before doing a test, as well as blowing anything into the device that isn’t normal air from you lungs.

This means you should avoid consuming any food or beverages at least 10-15 minutes before providing a breath test. Also, any nicotine products or substances that may get absorbed in your lungs and therefore mixed in with your breath.

Additionally, you should make sure no products in your vehicle put off a strong chemical aroma, especially any that have alcohol in them. Examples could include hand sanitizer, air freshener, perfumes, and gasoline. Obviously many other things could be listed.
