Can an ignition interlock device shut off your vehicle?

An ignition interlock device will not shut off your vehicle if it’s properly installed.

The way ignition interlock devices (IID) are installed in your vehicle doesn’t make them capable of turning off the vehicle when it’s in operation. However, IIDs are capable of disabling your vehicle from starting just not without multiple days of warning beforehand.

IIDs can make you want to turn off your vehicle though. In Wisconsin Ignition interlock devices are capable of triggering your horn and parking lights if certain instructions pertaining to proper use aren’t followed.
